Dr. Ranjan Pai is the Chairman of Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), the corporate holding entity of the Group that focuses on Education, Healthcare and Research.

With the vision to place MEMG on the global map in education & healthcare and with a keen understanding of the global business environment, Dr. Pai has, over the last fifteen years, restructured the family run businesses and professionalized them, including restructuring and corporatizing them.

Among several initiatives, he has incubated Manipal Global Education Services, a leading global education and education services company, headquartered in Bangalore, India. The company addresses the entire higher and continuing education life cycle, covering both on-campus and campus-independent graduate and post-graduate studies, vocational skill development, corporate training and continuing education programs. Dr Pai has, in parallel, corporatized the healthcare business by transforming Manipal Hospitals into a leading multi-specialty network of hospitals in India. He has set up Stempeutics to undertake cutting-edge research in stem cell therapies. He founded and, subsequently, successfully divested Manipal Infrastructure Services that provides premier student accommodation and facilities management services. He has recently forayed into health insurance through an acquisition and is in partnership with the US global health services and insurance major, Cigna.

Dr Pai has a proven track record of successfully raising funding at different stages for the MEMG companies from marquee strategic and financial investors and delivering above market returns to his investors.

Separately, Dr Pai has incubated or has been an active financial investor in several start-ups. He co-founded Aarin Capital to actively engage with new ideas and with dynamic entrepreneurs, in life sciences, health care, education, training and skill augmentation. His investment track record includes many news worthy exits.
